20 Tips for Things you wish you knew when you were 20

I was just browsing reddit when I stumbled upon this great set of 20 helpful tips by some smart guy named kerrz. I decided to print it out and laminate it to pin it to my wall, and to get some decent typographical quality, I quickly made a TeX document from the raw text. I uploaded it to this webspace: .pdf. In case you want to modify it/I made some capitalization mistake in the heading, you can find the LaTeX source here: LaTeX source. The capitalization rules in English headings are giving me a really hard time as a non-native speaker! :).

First Post!!!1!!11one11

Well, well well, I finally have my own blog, so my first entry shall describe the process of setting it up :)

I was recommended this excellent free web-hoster at HaBo. The Installation of this great file-based blogging-system named FlatPress went flawlessly and almost out-of the box.
The only “problem” was the fact that I couldn’t access two settings in the admin-panel of FlatPress. This was caused by this server’s security policy, which prevented several strings to be passed as GET-parameters to PHP-scripts (which actually is a good thing for imprudently programmed PHP-scripts!). Upon leaving a notice in the support forums though that feature has been disabled (it took less than 45 minutes! Thats what i call good service :) ) and now everything works fine.

I have never really used content management systems before as extensively as now, and i must say i am really astonished about what FlatPress is capable of. It also has a nice plugin-system, which is a good thing, because that way I’ll be able to add emoticons soon, which are indispensable to me :D (edit: done :) )
